Our Guests
We have some of the nicest people in the world visit us here on the wild coast of Oregon.  They come to us from all over the United States, but we also have hosted guests from Canada, France, England, Scotland, Belgium, Germany, and other countries as well.  Some of our guests have great stories (see Love Story below) or they come to celebrate the life of someone who has passed, or they have always dreamed of a wedding near the beach, or they are simply enjoying a trip to the Oregon coast.  We love it when our guest share with us, and below you will see some of the photos, stories, and letters we get from these guests.  Enjoy, each one is an American original (and of course from other countries too) and each person has a story to tell.

From desert to ocean:

One of our Guests has offered to share their vacation photos with us!  These are remarkable photos taken by the Cooper family of Mesa Arizona (by coincidence this was our winter home too!) and we thought it would be fun to post the photos with their permission.

"Forget Disneyland ... bring the family to Gold Beach! We spent our days horseback riding, crabbing off the pier, beach combing and rock hunting ... and enjoyed all the wildlife - from the residents of Kitty Cat Jetty to the sea lions at the port and deer below our balcony. The jet boat trip brought eagles and bear into the picture as well and day trips up and down the coast revealed lighthouses, spectacular scenic vistas and, of course, fresh fudge and salt water taffy. Our evenings were spent with spectacular sunsets and fresh sea food. The people of Gold Beach were friendly and accommodating in every way. We'll definitely be back!" - The Coopers, Mesa, Ariz.

The Coopers vacationed in an oceanfront condo.  The
deer photo was taken from the deck.

Myers Beach during August 2002 on the day the smoke came to Gold Beach.   The scene was strange, everything looked like copper!  This was called the "Biscuit Fire", a very large forest fire that burned thousands of acres inland that year.  We did not get much
of the smoke, but the little bit we did get turned the sky to copper!

Thank you so much to J. Cooper of Mesa for letting us share these great photos!  We loved having you, and we hope you will vacation on our lovely coast again soon!

A Love Story:

Bea and Larry met and dated in 1962, but did not see each other again for 46 years!  Read their amazing
story below.   It tickled us when they called to rent one of our adorable little cabins for their Honeymoon,
and we asked if they would share their story with us.  46 years later they met again and married and came
to Gold Beach on their honeymoon trip.   They have agreed to share it with you!  We all need something to
smile about once in a while and we love sharing some of the more unusual stories we come across here.

Bea and Larry met and dated in nearby Crescent City in 1962 but soon fell out of touch

Suddenly in 2008 the couple met again, and in 2009 they wed.  They came to Gold Beach for
their Honeymoon and stayed in one of our little cabins near the sea.

What an amazing story!    We thought we would share it with you!

Our Love Story
March of 1962 (Spring Break, senior year) my family from Portland was visiting my mom's relatives in Crescent City, CA.  My cousin invited me to go with her to a dance along with our parents.  A tall, dark haired, dark eyed handsome stranger asked me to dance.  I said, "no thank you."  His name was Larry and my cousin knew him from school and was upset that I refused to dance with him.  My cousin acted as our go-between during the rest of our senior year.

After my graduation my mom and I went to Crescent City to see my cousins (and Larry) graduate.  By this time he had invited me out to dinner with his parents and sister after graduation.  We dated during the next 10 days and by the time I headed home we were "going steady".  In September we went our separate ways not to have any contact for 46 years.  The same cousin is responsible for our reconnection along with reunion.com.  We started e-mailing the end of January 2008, met for lunch in Grants Pass on February 25.  We continued meeting and e-mailing and on Christmas Eve 2008 Larry asked me to marry him..   The answer was, "yes!"  We're not getting any younger so decided not to have a long engagement.
